Welcome
to Surveying Southern Shores. Much of the information presented
on this web site will focus on two bays in south-eastern Australia,
namely Port Phillip Bay and Western Port. However, this information
can be applied to the whole southern shore of Australia.
Throughout
2002 we will explore the following three themes:
beachcomber
Harry Breidahl
at Frankston pier
beachcombing
- seasonal events will be presented through the eyes of
a beachcomber and occasional scuba diver based in the Melbourne
suburb of Frankston. That's me Harry Breidahl.
biological
surveys - at the start of 2002 we will be keeping track
of two species of crabs found on southern Australian rocky
shores. Other surveys will be developed later in the year.
water
testing - methods for testing chemical and physical
properties of sea water will be developed during the year.
This will happen at a number of sites on the shores of Port
Phillip Bay and Western Port.
A
fourth section will provide up-to-date links to project partners
and useful web sites. Throughout the Surveying Southern Shores
web pagesglossary words appear in purple.
These
web pages are part of the Melbourne Water funded Southern
Shores Project.
